The march has become one of the most popular elements of concert performances by bands and orchestras and it has, of course, an extremely rich heritage stretching back to the 16th and 17th centuries and including works by some of the world's finest composers. The Central Band of the Royal British Legion always includes marches in its concert programmes and this inspirational recording draws together some of the marches that were written to mark great wartime events.
